Caring for your Denim

Caring for your Denim

In an ideal world we would advise you to never wash your jeans but at Buy Jeans we know that isn’t the most practical advice. Here we show you the best way to care for your Buy Jeans purchases from denim to t-shirts!

Denim

It is best to wash your denim as little as possible to ensure they last as long as possible. By washing denim often you increase the risk of fading and shrinking. When you need to freshen up your jeans turn them inside out and wash alone in cold water.

You do not need to tumble dry your jeans and you should line dry if possible. Good quality jeans retain their shape so there is no need to tumble dry after wearing to get them back into shape!

Slight fading after prolonged washing and wearing is a natural occurrence in denim due to the way it is dyed. At Buy Jeans we believe you should embrace the slight fading because after all, nothing beats the look of a comfortable, worn-in pair of jeans!

Aside from caring for your jeans we should all also be aware about the environmental effects from washing often. By not washing your jeans you could save between 15-25 gallons of water per wash. If you’re used to washing your jeans once a week you could save up to 1,300 gallons a year! That’s incredible.

T-shirts

To care for your cotton or cotton blend you should wash them inside out on a low heat with fabric softener to prevent wrinkles. When still wet, give just-washed t-shirts and other cotton items a stretch and then dry using a low heat.

To prevent printed graphics from fading or burning do not iron directly onto them. Place a tea towel or piece of material on top of the graphic/print and iron on top of that to prevent your favourite printed tee burning or melting!
